Semi Truck Accessories - 5 Trick My Truck Tips For Truckers

Last fall, CMT (Country Music Television) introduced a six 6 show pilot called "Trick My Truck. It is a new reality show featuring a deserving trucker and his 18-wheeler in each episode. The show is a theme similar to pimpmyride and overhaulin, where old vehicles are restored except the target vehicles are semi trucks. A crew of experts searches the truck stops of America looking for run-down trucks whose owners are in need of a break. With the secret help of family members, the owner operator s big rig is "hijacked", and completely revamped with all the latest and greatest features and equipment.
Since independent truckers pretty much live in their rigs, dressing up their favorite big rig with exterior, interior, and lighting big rig accessories makes life a whole lot more pleasant, allowing them to bring comforts of home, such as a fridge and microwave, with them on the road.
How to trick your truck is 5 easy steps
When truckers leave home for the road, there focus is usually on everything but finding semi truck chrome accessories for their truck. However, something may spark them to call us on a whim and ask: "where can I find semi truck accessories to trick my truck?" Here are some tips to find the big rig accessories you need.
1. Have the last 8 digits of your VIN available
Unlike light truck accessories, semi truck accessories are manufacturered specifically for a truck, such as Peterbilt accessories or kenworth accessories. Or, semi truck accessory manufacturers also produce universal accessories. Universal accessories are designed to be used on all makes and models of trucks. If you have the VIN available, a good semi truck accessory distributor can look up your truck and see specific manufacturer diagrams to determine if accessories are specifically made for your vehicle. For example, if you re looking for Peterbilt chrome or Freightliner accessories, they are easier to locate with a VIN.
2. A picture says a thousand words
It makes it much easier for a semi truck accessory supplier to find accessories for your truck if they have a quality photo to work with when they communicate with semi truck accessory manufacturers. Many times we can locate specific parts with a broadcast email to many semi truck accessory manufacturers.
3. Save the rainforest! Online catalogs are the way to go.
On any given day, we receive 15-20 requests for catalogs. Print costs and paper are extremely expensive costs for manufacturers to absorb, so paper catalogs are usually produced every other year. These are costs that can have significant impact the cost structure of big rig accessories. Online catalogs are the best to locate your semi truck accessories because most manufacturers keep their websites current with the latest additions to their product lines. For example, Rockwood products has several new Peterbilt accessories that you can only see on their website. If you need help locating semi truck chrome accessories for you rig, email us anytime at chromemytruck.com
4. Let your cell phone do your shopping
find a supplier willing to become your chrome guy that has the knowledge and expertise to find what you need. Call them with your VIN, tell them what you want, and let them do their job. We receive many calls each day from truckers looking to trick their truck with the newest semi truck accessories. The conversation always begins with " where can I find this accessory"! Let the supplier find what you need and the entire transaction can take place over the phone!
5. Older trucks need love too!
At least two to three times a day someone calls with an older truck application. They are usually frustrated because they haven t found any chrome for their truck. Ask your supplier if a custom quote is available for the accessory you want. this is not an unusual request. Semi truck manufacturers have the tooling in place to make almost any customized semi truck accessory you request.
From roof to fender to grill to cab, you can find all the accessories you need that will have your truck reflecting your independent and freewheeling spirit. Using the tips we discussed, you shouldn t have any problem dressing up your truck with trickmytruck semi truck accessories.

Acura starter: the first step in driving

Acura, Honda s luxury car making arm, has come a long way despite its relatively young age. The Japanese-bred carmaker initially released the Legend, a V6-powered coupe and sedan, and the Integra, a 1.6L five-door/three-door hatchback. These vehicles paved the way for the stamping of Acura s mark in the automotive industry. To ensure optimum vehicle safety and performance, Acura made sure these vehicles were equipped with premium quality parts. One of these parts is the Acura starter.
The Acura starter is designed to convert electricity into mechanical energy through two stages. As the ignition switch is turned on, a small amount of power from the battery is released to a coil above the starter. During this process, a pulling force is produced by the magnetic field bringing the coil plunger forward and causing the attached shift yoke to move the starter drive. The plunger then strikes a contact, allowing more current to flow from the battery to the starter. Finally, the motor spins the drive and turns the meshed gears to provide power to the crankshaft. As a result, every cylinder is prepared for ignition. After the engine gets heat up, ignition is released to break the starting circuit.
When an Acura starter is activated, the coil plunger s forward movement enables the shift yoke to move the drive located in its opposite direction and engages the pinion and flywheel. A clutch secures the pinion to its shaft. It unlocks as the engine starts up and the flywheel begins turning faster than its normal.
Automobile motion all begins literally with the starter. Ignition won t start without an efficient starter. Because of this, Acura starters should be taken care of and checked regularly.

How To Choose A Body Shop To Repair Your Car

Having been involved in an accident when my truck was only three months old, and then having re-painting done while restoring a ten year old vehicle, I ve had some experience with body repair shops.
There are different types of body shops out there as we re all not looking for the same quality of work. The first rule I ll give you is that you get what you pay for. If you want to pay $599.00 to have your entire car painted, that s fine. It may be a huge improvement over how your car looked initially, but it wouldn t have suited me in either case mentioned above. I wanted that three month old truck to look like it looked the day I purchased it, and the paint on the hood of that ten year old sports car had to match the rest of the car perfectly.
The best way to find a body repair shop is the probably the same way you found your auto mechanic, word of mouth. Talk with friends and work associates, ask your mechanic. Talk to your neighbors and get their opinions. Everyone knows someone who s had a good, or bad experience. Listen when people talk about their cars and experiences they ve had. I called the dealership where I had purchased my truck for a referral.
When you think that you ve narrowed it down to a particular shop, check with the Better Business Bureau to see if any complaints have been lodged. Remember that you may find they have a few, but no business can keep everyone happy. Talk with the shop manager if you have any questions or concerns.
Take a look around the shop. Is is kept clean? It won t be sparkling clean due to the type of work, but you shouldn t see dust and filth and chemicals spilled on floors.
Ask to see their work. They should have before and after pictures of their work and will also have cars they are currently working on. Do they have letters of recommendation? A lot of business keep letters from happy customers.
Do they give any type of warranty? Some body shops offer a limited warranty.
Finally, use your gut. How are they interacting with you? Are they taking the time to answer your questions completely or do they seem put off by them? If they seem put off, it s time to look elsewhere.

Have You Seen the New 2006 Honda Civic?

I got my first look at a real live-2006 Honda Civic. Impressive, to say the least. Almost completely redesigned and despite the criticism, the car looks good. The interior looks even better. Let me tell you my take on the vehicle on hand.
I got in the car, which seems more spacious than last year. The first thing you notice is a two-tier instrument panel. Its all black, it is hard to see what is happening on every level. With a building from the time the key, the bottom line is illuminated with a center-mounted tachometer, while the upper tier shows a digital speedometer. This provides a much cleaner looking console, believe it or not, and I could my eyes on my speed and the street at the same time.
The LX model I looked at was a 4-door model with a 5-speed gearbox. He had the standard 140hp 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine. But the new Civic DX comes with the standard features you need. Like all airbags - not just the front. You get the side curtains and back and airbags. ABS is standard with EBD - Electronic Brake Distribution. It applies more braking power, where it is needed, depending on your load. Power windows are standard, but with the LX complements the car up / down feature.
The LX also had a nice radio with 160 watts power. Remote entry, cruise control, 16 " wheels - albeit with hubcaps - AC and power door locks.
The the EX-ups ante to a nicer radio, 16 " aluminum wheels, moonroof, and an optional satellite navigation system. 4-wheel disc brakes round out this model as the best of them all.
The hybrid is different. It has a smaller engine, but with the large electric motor. You do not have to plug it in or anything. He even charges. The transmission is a continuously variable type. The dealer does not have one of these, but I hear they are a riot. 50 mpg and Real getup and power. You see, the gas engine and electric motor can work in the same period. All of this, while you are at the gas station in your waving friends.
Finally Honda has all models of the same engine, with the exception of Si. Its going to have a 197-hp engine, together with a few other goodies, and should be able to smoke the competition, as always. I hope I have the opportunity to meet the new Civic Si.
